A Message from the President

Dear Students,

I started as MCLA's president on July 1, so this is my first letter to you as a graduate community.

Before I worked in higher education, I was a special education teacher and a counselor, working with children who had experienced serious abuse and neglect. That work is part of why I care about people who are carrying real responsibilities outside the classroom, which is true of a lot of you. Many of you are teaching full-time while earning your MEd. Some of you are managing careers and families while working toward an MBA or a CAGS. MCLA's graduate programs, including our 16 educator licensure programs, are built for that reality. Through close collaboration with dedicated faculty and meaningful applied learning experiences, you will develop the critical thinking, communication, innovation, and leadership abilities that will prepare you to advance your career and positively impact the organizations and communities you serve.

MCLA sits in the Berkshires, a region with a cultural and artistic pulse. The college works closely with the schools and employers around us, which matters for graduate students especially, since so much of what you'll do next happens close to home.

Thank you for choosing MCLA. I'm looking forward to meeting many of you this year and learning what brought you here.
