Core Curriculum Prerequisite Policy
No core course shall have prerequisites or co-requisites (except required labs) outside of the core.
Tier I courses shall not carry prerequisites or co-requisites. However, some courses may offer an "enhanced" version (e.g. ENGL 150 College Writing, MATH 232 Intro to Statistics) that students may choose with the guidance of an advisor.
Tier II courses may carry prerequisites or co-requisites provided that the prerequisite or co-requisite course is also designated as a core course (or lab) or that the course is deemed necessary by placement evaluation. (e.g., SPAN 101 Introduction to Spanish I for Language, Culture & Communication).
Tier III courses, including cross-listed departmental courses, must carry these prerequisites and no others: Completion of Tier I and Tier II requirements and Junior/Senior Status.
