Students minoring in chemistry will develop an understanding of the basic principles of general, organic, and analytical chemistry. The student will also gain valuable experience on most of our chemical instruments, including:  NMR, IR, UV-Vis and ICP. In addition, the student can decide on what other area of chemistry they choose to study. The student can choose a course in inorganic, physical or biochemistry to round out their minor.

Students graduating with a minor in Chemistry will be able to:

• Demonstrate knowledge of basic principles and theories in analytical, organic and one of the following sub-areas: inorganic, biochemistry or physical chemistry
• Apply chemical principles through problem-solving and laboratory experimentation
• Demonstrate competency in the use of basic laboratory instruments.
