The philosophy minor will enable students to gain knowledge of main philosophical issues that may be fruitfully combined with subject areas in other departments, including their major program.

Students graduating with a minor in Philosophy will be able to:

• Demonstrate knowledge of central philosophical questions, concepts, and traditions concerning knowledge, reality, value, and human nature;
• Analyze and evaluate arguments using the principles of logical reasoning and critical inquiry;
• Apply philosophical methods and ethical reasoning to contemporary issues and practical problems;
• Integrate philosophical perspectives with knowledge and methods drawn from their major fields of study and other disciplines;
• Construct clear, well-reasoned written and oral arguments that engage competing viewpoints fairly and critically;
• Demonstrate habits of reflective judgment, intellectual curiosity, and reasoned engagement with enduring questions of human life and experience.
